Construction
The beginning
It all started with some Tonka toy trucks and machinery in my front yard. Then it was reinforced with the weekly visits to my childhood house while it was under construction. Followed by weekend shifts to my dad hard-ware & material store.
Hands On Stage
After being stuck in a lab during a high school internship I decided to pursue a career that could afford me the flexibility to be indoors and outdoors. Civil engineering was the right fit. During my internship at Gessner Engineering I was able to put pencils down (keyboard & mouse) and support the geotechnical investigation of Kyle Field. A few months later I joined Skanska as a project engineering intern to support the construction of a Fedex Distribution Center.
Lately
Upon graduation I joined Jacobs as a design engineer. I worked on a variety of major projects. My last assignment was a field engineering role at the Arbuckle Reservoir. From there I transition to my last corporate job at KPMG. This was a one in a lifetime opportunity to provide management consulting services to some of the largest project owner organizations and EPC companies, directly advising executives about their organizations or troubled projects.
Up Next!
In the upcoming years I plan on working with small and mid-size Hispanic owned contractors to create the first Top 20 Contractor in the state of Texas that is owned and operated by Hispanics.

War Room Design
Since I started design I always felt the process was very inefficient. Many people work on elements independently, there's coordination meetings and then a senior member of the team reviews and approves. I started envisioning what could be the next generation of designing projects, War Room Design. Inspired by movies and documentaries in which a team of people from analyst to chief solve problems in one room, hackathons were a team of developers get together to deliver on an idea in a matter of hours, and Agile methodology. With the advancements in technology many 3D models live in the cloud and can be accessed by multiple users. I have started developing a framework for how this could be executed and I am ready to start pitching it. I've yet to find a published delivery model similar to this one. The goal of this article is to serve a documentation as the creator of this design approach. My goal is to find engineering firms to partner with and expedite the design process. This could be a very lucrative or competitive advantage for lump-sum projects. Based on the feedback and responses I hope to continue the development of this delivery model and become a breakthrough advancement in the engineering design space.
